AAADF
Since its inception in 1993, AAADF's primary focus has been to facilitate the recruitment and retention of African-American attorneys in corporate law firms by fostering a network of business and mentor relationships. In 2000, AAADF affiliated with the John M. Langston Bar Association as its Business Law Section. Over the last 17 years, AAADF has mushroomed to be-come a vital source of infor-mation and support for law firm attorneys throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

Education
The Education Committee has three goals: first, to provide continuing legal education to attorneys through CLE ac-credited seminars; second, to support our law students as they prepare for the California bar exam by making available to them free bar exam tutorial sessions led by Langstons es-teemed members; and third, to educate and provide a forum where the local community can receive information about emerging legal issues that may impact their lives.

Entertainment Law
The Entertainment Law Committee provides support and fellowship for lawyers practicing in the entertainment, arts, and sports related industries and law students interested in pursuing careers in these fields. We offer programs and events which serve to educate our members on legal and business issues relevant to our practice areas, facilitate networking with other lawyers and non-lawyers in the entertainment industries, and generally provide a platform for our members to meet and connect with other attorneys with similar interests. Fundraising

Hall of Fame
Yearly awards program to honor African American Attorneys with forty years of bar membership and a history and background of showing commitment to the programs and goals of the John M. Langston Bar Association. The dinner and program provide an opportunity for younger lawyers to hear from and meet pioneers of the practice in Los Angeles. They describe the challenges they faced, the obstacles that didn't deter them, and the doors they opened to get us to where we are today.

Judicial Nominations and Evaluations
The Judicial Nominations and Evaluations Committee reviews the qualifications of candidates for judicial positions by appointment or election. Evaluations are conducted based on written materials, including completed evaluation forms, and interview of the candidate.

Law Student Liaison
The Law Student Liaison Committee consists of students who attend law schools in the Los Angeles/Southern California area. This committee acts as the Langston Bar Associations bridge to connect judges and practicing attorneys with the future generations of judges and lawyers. The committee will keep Langston apprised of the current and developing needs of law students to ensure their successful matriculation through law school and into the legal profession. It will also foster opportunities for students to network amongst each other and develop professional relationships with judges and lawyers.

Legislation
John M. Langston Bar Association has been on the forefront in promoting justice and equal access to all in the Los Angeles comm-unity. The Legislation Committee monitors and supports pending local, state and federal legislation that embraces our mission. We also oppose legislation which would be detrimental to the interests of the African American community. The committee maintains an active network among the other bar associations as well as community- based organizations.

Mentorship
The Mentorship Committee works to provide for the development of young lawyers and law students by providing them with opportunities to interact with more seasoned lawyers. The committee is developing programs to help accomplish this objective. Outreach and Community Action
The purpose and mission of the Outreach & Community Action Committee is to develop and implement pro bono and community outreach activities to help promote social reform, advance civil and human rights for the disenfranchised and underrepresented, while fostering relationships within and between the legal profession and the community at large. In 2011, this committee will not only provode charitable services in Los Angeles, but it will also present opportunities for Langston members to serve the world community.

Scholarship
The Scholarship Committee works to raise money and provide scholarships to outstanding and deserving law students based on both their merit and need.

Special Events
The purpose of the Langston Bar Association Committee of Special Events is to provide the members an opportunity to participate in events that are not necessarily law related events such as the annual golf tournament or community service based events. The events will allow the members to network with and amongst individuals within and outside the legal community. In addition, it will provide the association and its members the opportunity to provide community service to the City of Los Angeles and the surrounding communities.
Young Lawyers
The purpose of the YLC is to:
-create an educational, professional and social network for future and practicing African-American attorneys, and - to enhance the visibility of African-American attorneys in the Los Angeles area. A "young lawyer" is generally defined as an attorney who (a) is 35 years of age or younger or (b) was admitted to practice law ten years ago or less.

Youth Outreach Program
The Youth Outreach Program (YOP) is the community-based arm of Langston Bar Association de-dicated to increasing the student-to-professional pipeline. YOP conducts regular activities at Audubon Middle School and Crenshaw High School which expose students to life skills, career de-velopment, college pre-paration, and cultural ex-periences. In 2009-2010, Langston YOP has partnered with the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce Foundation to expand opportunities for our youth, and we are continually looking for volunteers to chaperone field trips, participate in pre-sentations, and serve as mentors to some of the best students in LA.
