Loyola Law School, Los Angeles
Rukayat Salaam is a Southern California native who graduated with a B.A. in English at UC Riverside before pursuing her J.D. at Loyola Law, Los Angeles. At Loyola, Rukayat was an active member of the community. She served as Executive Editor of the Entertainment Law Review, Social Chair for her school’s BLSA, and WRBLSA’s Co-Director of Corporate Relations. She also represented the school as a Student Ambassador, acted as a team leader in Loyola’s Young Lawyers Program, and worked in the Juvenile Justice Clinic. However, the highlight of her law school career was the time she spent as a judicial extern for the Honorable André Birotte Jr. in the Central District.
After Rukayat graduates, she hopes to continue to act as a resource for other students pursuing a legal career. She will work as an associate for an AmLaw 100 firm and would love the opportunity to clerk for a federal judge in the future. Outside of law, she plans to create a non-profit focused on mentoring and educating underserved youths in the Los Angeles area.
