A NOTE OF APPRECIATION
It has been a tumultuous year which has forced us all to make many adjustments. Langston had to pivot how it serves its members and the community by shifting its programming online. Because of the pandemic and economic downturn, Langston has also suffered a decrease in sponsorship donations. Despite these challenges, Langston launched several new initiatives – the Police Accountability Task Force, the Covid-19 Law Student Relief Fund, and the #LangstonVotes campaign. We have also made robust additions to the website and elevated our social media engagement. It has not been easy!
Past President's Messages
I am so thankful to the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs for their hard work. They have stepped up with innovative ideas for programs and provided valuable content to share. Langston is extremely grateful to our partners and sponsors for their continued support of our mission and work. Most importantly, we are thankful for YOU - our members, our Langston community!
We are extremely excited for what’s ahead. The Board Members are working diligently on plans for this fall. The upcoming line-up of insightful and informative programs includes a series of webinars on "Policing and Racial Justice in Los Angeles" presented by the Los Angeles Federal Bar Association which Langston is co-sponsoring, as well as the Langston Law Institute and re-imagined Bar Prep sessions. I am especially looking forward to the virtual Past Presidents Reception on August 26th. I encourage you to attend as we will hear from several Past Presidents, spanning from the 1970s through the 2000s, discussing Langston’s history and its impact in Los Angeles over the years.
On behalf of our entire organization, thank you so very much!
Nyanza Shaw, Esq.
President, John M. Langston Bar Association
