Welcome to the 2025
Langston Giving Campaign
The John M. Langston Bar Association of Los Angeles proudly launches its annual Langston Giving Campaign: Sowing Seeds, Building Legacies. From November 24 through December 31, we unite our community to grow opportunities for the next generation of Black legal leaders.
This year, our goal is to raise $50,000 in scholarships and increase membership across all levels. With your support, we will continue Langston’s century-long legacy of advancing justice, equity, and excellence in the legal profession.
Every donation, every membership, and every contribution plants a seed.
Lead Gift: The “First Seed”
We are honored to begin this year’s campaign with a generous $25,000 lead seed gift from Var Fox.
This first seed sets the tone for the season and inspires our community to join in giving, growing, and building legacies together.

Scholarship Recipient's Testimonies
"I’m proud to be a Langston Bar Association scholarship recipient. The Langston Scholarship came at a time when I truly needed a reminder that my effort and dedication were seen in LA and beyond! Since then, Langston events and initiatives have remained a constant reminder of this irreplaceable community that continues to guide, connect, and inspire me."
Charles T. (2022 Recipient)
"The Langston scholarship changed my law school experience because it lessened my financial burden, allowing me to focus on my grades. Much of my education has been marked by having to work and attend school, making it more difficult to get outstanding grades. Langston made it possible for me to focus only on school for the first time in my educational experience and that has paid off dividends."
Amethyst P. (2023 & 2024 Recipient)
"Being the first law student to receive this scholarship each year of my law school career reaffirmed my belief that representation matters. It gave me the confidence and support to pursue a career where I can advocate for equity and inclusion in the legal field. I’m deeply grateful for the Langston Bar community for investing in my journey and inspiring me to uplift others along the way."
Michael S. (2023, 2024 & 2025 Recipient)
"The Langston Scholarship was a pivotal part of my bar exam preparation journey. While studying full-time for the bar, I was not earning any income, yet my living expenses continued. The Langston Scholarship eased that financial burden by covering some of my essential expenses, allowing me to focus entirely on my studies. A few weeks ago, I learned that I passed the California Bar Examination on my first attempt. I am deeply grateful for the Langston Scholarship and to the Scholarship Committee for the critical financial support that made this achievement possible."
Edwin C. (2025 Recipient)
